Celebrations held nationwide to mark CPC’s 104th birthday

BEIJING: Tuesday, July 1, 2025, marks the 104th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC), as various activities including reviewing the oath of joining the CPC, education and cultural activities were being held across the country to inspire the Party members and the Chinese people of various ethnic groups to stay true to the original aspiration, hold on to the mission, and work hard to contribute to China’s modernization and rejuvenation of Chinese nation.

A day before the founding anniversary of the CPC, Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, presided over a group study session of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee. On behalf of the CPC Central Committee, Xi conveyed festive greetings to all Party members across the country, according to the Xinhua News Agency.

On Tuesday, an article by Xi on unity and hard work was published in this year’s 13th issue of the Qiushi Journal, a flagship magazine of the CPC Central Committee. Strength comes from unity and happiness arises from hard work, the article notes, adding that all the achievements made by the Party and the people are attributed to unity and hard work.

On the new journey, Chinese modernization calls for strengthened unity and diligence, the article says, describing Chinese modernization as a great cause that involves all Chinese people, one that is full of risks and challenges and demands arduous efforts.
“On our path forward, major struggles will be inevitable. Confronted with encirclement, containment and suppression, we must fight back with confidence and rightful determination,” the article says.

The article emphasizes the need to carry forward the fighting spirit, stay focused on the right direction, understand the laws of struggle, and strengthen the ability to engage in it. “As long as the entire nation stays united under the Party’s leadership, dares to struggle, and excels at struggle, we will surely overcome all difficulties and challenges on the road ahead,” the article notes. On the 104th anniversary of the Party’s founding, emphasizing unity and dedication is crucial for uniting Party members and national strength and maintaining strategic focus amid global turbulence, ensuring steady progress in the great cause of Chinese modernization, analysts said.

The CPC has always stood at the forefront of the times, shouldered historic responsibilities and remained the pillar of the Chinese nation. Achieving national rejuvenation requires unwavering CPC leadership. As the world faces unprecedented changes, with rising instability and uncertainty, rapid internal and external shifts, and mounting challenges, it is more essential than ever to uphold and strengthen the Party’s leadership, Su Wei, a professor at the Party School of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee, told the Global Times on Tuesday.

With its membership exceeding 100 million and as it celebrates its 104th anniversary, this is also an opportunity to reflect on the Party’s journey and maintain and develop its vitality, said the expert.

On Tuesday, immersive activities in Ruijin, Jiangxi Province, Shexian in Anhui Province, Tieli, Heilongjiang Province and Qianjiang, Hubei Province were organized, allowing Party members and the public to draw strength from revolutionary relics and stories carrying forward the Party’s legacy. In factories and workshops in Changde, Hunan Province, in the forests of Shidian, Yunnan and in the Xizang Autonomous Region, new and veteran Party members solemnly pledged allegiance to the Party under the Party flag, renewing their vows and strengthening their convictions, CCTV News reported.
