Centaurus Mall GM blames government for Sunday’s blaze

ISLAMABAD: The GM of Centaurus Mall, Islamabad has said that the incident of fire that had erupted on one of the floors of the Mall Sunday was not a major one, and that only one shop had been damaged by it and no loss of life was reported on Monday.
Talking to media, Amir Khawaja has said that the mall’s own team has investigated the cause of the blaze. “As often is the case, the fire had spread from the kitchen,” he disclosed.
Khawaja has promised to media personnel that details of the investigation will be shared with them. He has said that the firefighters managed to douse the flames in only two hours. The GM has informed that overseas Pakistanis have invested their capital in the mall. And since, he has said, the mall’s owner is from Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), even overseas Kashmiris have invested their money in it.
A fire had broken out in the food court of the Centaurus Mall in Islamabad Sunday. No causalities were however, reported in the fire that was extinguished after two hours of hectic efforts.
Personnel of the Pakistan Navy and the PAF assisted in the firefighting mission. The mall was sealed off and the district admin made a request to the Capital Development Authority (CDA) for reviewing the building structure.
