ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar on Wednesday stressed the need for increasing collaboration between the center and provinces to exploit the massive potential of tourism.
The prime minister expressed these views in a meeting with Special Assistant for Tourism Wasi Shah here at the PM House.
PM Kakar said owing to serene natural beauty, huge opportunities existed in Pakistan in the tourism sector. Wasi Shah briefed the prime minister about the steps taken on tourism at the federal level.
Meanwhile, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar on Tuesday said the areas ranging from Khunjerab Pass to Swat in the country offered huge potential of tourism which could lead to revenue generation after improvement in necessary infrastructure and facilities.
In this regard, he said, cooperation from the Chinese companies and the Pakistani business community could prove helpful in the promotion of tourism sector. The prime minister expressed these views as Murtaza Hashwani, renowned businessman and Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan Services Limited called on him here at the PM House.
Hashwani proposed to the prime minister for collaboration between the government and the country’s business community at the platform of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).
The meeting discussed the utilization of the government buildings situated at prominent places through public-private partnerships for the purpose of business activities. Hashwani lauded the efforts of PM Kakar in bringing economic stability in the country.
Earlier, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar on Monday directed the authorities concerned to expedite the process of privatization of the national flag career, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).
Chairing a review meeting on the financial crisis of PIA, the prime minister stressed the finalization of the privatization process within stipulated time.
The prime minister sought regular compliance reports to be submitted to him in this regard. PM Kakar said the government would continue extending support to PIA till completion of its privatization.
He said the State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), which were facing financial loss, would be privatized to save the national exchequer. The prime minister was given a briefing on the financial situation of PIA.
The meeting was attended by interim federal ministers including Shamshad Akhtar and Fawad Hussain Fawad, Adviser on Aviation Air Marshal (retd) Farhat Hussain, and officials concerned.
