Rawalpindi: Pakistan captain Babar Azam and other members of the team have a golden chance to improve their T20I rankings against Zimbabwe in the upcoming series.
The 26-year-old Babar, who lost his top T20I ranking, is only eight points behind England’s Dawid Malan.
He currently ranks second with 869 rating points while Malan has 877 rating points. Malan claimed the top spot after his impressive performances against Australia, helping his side to win the T20I series, 2-1.
Meanwhile, all-rounder Imad Wasim is eyeing top spot in bowlers ranking. He currently stands at the eighth spot. He was number one for 146 days in 2017 and 2018.
Left-handed opener Fakhar Zaman, ranked as high as second in the past, is currently in 22nd place while Mohammad Hafeez is in 42nd position with his career-best being ninth position back in 2007.
In bowlers, leg-spinner Shadab Khan would be looking to move back towards his best of the second position from the ninth place while Faheem Ashraf is in 32nd place but was sixth two years ago.
Babar-led Pakistan would also look to claim the top in Men’s T20I Team Rankings. Australia leads the ranking chart with 275 points, followed by England (271), India (266) and Pakistan (261).
Pakistan and Zimbabwe will lock horns in the three-match T20I series from November 7-10 at Pindi Cricket Stadium.
