ISLAMABAD: Disgruntled Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Chaudhry Nisar will hold a press conference at 4:00pm today (Saturday).
The PML-N leader will discuss party matters and the current security and political situation of the country, closed friend told media.
Nisar is likely to not part ways with PML-N, closed friend added.
“He will leave the decision regarding PML-N’s future on the party leadership,” they further said.
The sources upheld that Nisar will not ask the party leadership for a ticket to contest in the upcoming general elections. “He will leave the decision to the party whether to issue him a ticket or not.”
“If Nisar is issued a ticket by the party, then he will contest elections as a PML-N candidate, but if not, then he will contest as an independent candidate,” the closed friend added.
The disgruntled PML-N leader is also expected to discuss his 35-year long association with the party.
Speculation has been rife that the senior disgruntled PML-N leader will join Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and has held meetings with him.
However, when asked about a rumoured meeting between them, the PTI chief did not respond to the question while appearing on media.
Responding to a question about his repeated offers to Nisar to join the PTI, Imran said a person has to make his own decisions. “What options does he [Nisar] have? He can bow down to Maryam, which other [PML-N leaders] have shamelessly done but Nisar has some sense of honour. His other option is independent politics, which will not be beneficial for the country,” said Imran. “PTI is his only choice if he wants to serve Pakistan.”
