China-Australia co-op can cross Pacific, transcend differences

BEIJING: Chinese Premier Li Qiang said on Sunday that so long as both sides cherish it, cooperation between China and Australia can cross the vast Pacific Ocean, transcend differences, and achieve mutual achievements and win-win results.
He made the remarks when visiting the Adelaide Zoo for China-Australia cooperation in panda protection and research.
During the tour, Li said that the Adelaide Zoo hosts Wang Wang and Fu Ni, the Southern Hemisphere’s only pair of giant pandas, and although they are far away from home, they have been taken good care of, have settled down and are living happily in Australia.
Wang Wang and Fu Ni have been on loan from China since 2009, and are among the Adelaide Zoo’s top attractions.
They will return to China this year as agreed by the two sides.
Li said the pandas have become ambassadors of China-Australia relations and a symbol of the profound friendship between the two peoples.
China is ready to continue cooperation with Australia on panda protection and research, and hopes that Australia will always be a friendly home for giant pandas, he said.
The Chinese premier added that China’s achievements in giant panda protection showcase the country’s positive contribution to preserving global biodiversity and endangered animals. –The Daily Mail-CGTN news exchange item
