China begins first shipment of high-speed trains to Indonesia

BEIJING: A set of high-speed Electric Multiple Units (EMUs) and a comprehensive inspection train, customized for the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway, set off from Qingdao City in east China’s Shandong Province for Indonesia on Sunday.
The trains, designed and produced by the Shandong-based company CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co. Ltd., are China’s first high-speed bullet trains for export.
The Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway is a landmark project in the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative and China-Indonesia practical cooperation. The project is expected to be completed in June 2023. The 11 sets of high-speed EMUs and one set of comprehensive test trains for the Jakarta-Bandung railway project were rolled off the production line on August 5.
They are scheduled to arrive at the port of Jakarta in late August and will later be shipped to the terminal station of Tegal Luar in Bandung. The remaining trains will be transported to Indonesia in batches before early 2023, according to the CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co. Ltd.
Relying on the advanced technology of the Fuxing bullet train, the trains have a maximum operating speed of 350 kilometers per hour and were designed and manufactured according to Chinese standards.
