China dispatches team to investigate DiDi’s data security

BEIJING: Authorities from seven Chinese departments, including the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC), dispatched a joint team on Friday to conduct an on-site cybersecurity review into the ride-hailing giant DiDi Global.

The inspection team also includes ministries of public security, state security, transport, and natural resources, along with the State Administration for Market Regulation, said a CAC statement. The move came after the CAC notified app stores earlier this month to remove Didi Chuxing due to “serious” violations of laws and regulations regarding collecting and using personal information.
