BEIJING: In a significant effort to strengthen cultural and educational cooperation, the National Library of China donated a collection from its renowned “”A Hundred Classic Books of Chinese Traditional Culture” series to the National Library of Pakistan.
The donation ceremony and related discussions took place last week.
Chen Peng, Cultural Counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan, presented the books during a meeting with Rana Yasir Arfat, the newly appointed Director General of the National Library of Pakistan. The event highlighted the enduring friendship between the two nations.
The book series selects important Chinese classics from fields such as philosophy, literature and history, aiming to offer readers accessible versions of these traditional masterpieces, promoting a deeper understanding of Chinese culture.
Director General Rana expressed deep appreciation for the gift. He emphasized that this donation is highly significant in strengthening the cultural bridge between China and Pakistan, paving the way for enhanced knowledge sharing and mutual understanding.
He noted that this initiative will undoubtedly inject new vitality into Sino-Pak cultural collaboration, which already encompasses projects such as the mutual translation of classic works and other book donations. –Agencies
