BEIJING: China said on Wednesday that it was prepared to play its positive role for de-escalating tension in the Middle East. According to spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Geng Shuang, China is worried about the current situation. China hoped that all parties concerned will properly resolve their conflicts and differences through peaceful means such as dialogue and negotiation on the basis of mutual respect, and jointly maintain peace and stability in the Middle East Gulf region. At a regular news briefing, the spokesperson said, the current situation in the Middle East is complex and sensitive. “We have said many times that the situation in the Middle East has deteriorated further and is not in the interest of any party. Ensuring peace and stability in the region is vital to the world. China will continue to pay close attention to the development of the situation, maintain close communication with the parties concerned, and play a responsible role in promoting the situation to cool down as soon as possible and properly responding to the development of the current situation,” he added.
