PESHAWAR: China has provided funds of Rs. 2 billion for the reconstruction of 58 schools in Khyber district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial government approved the reconstruction of 58 schools in Khyber district that were damaged or destroyed due to militancy and war on terror in the area.
The provincial government itself has also approved Rs. 10 million for the reconstruction of these schools.
Chairman District Development and Advisory Committee (DDAC) Muhammad Shafiq told the journalists that China had provided funds of Rs. 2 billion for the reconstruction process.
He added that these funds have been transferred into the account of Education Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the reconstruction would start within a few days.
This project, he elaborated, was approved in 2016 but due to some delays now the cost of construction had been increased. However, he maintained that the dialogue between the provincial government and the contractors was in the final stages.
Scores of children were deprived of education by the wave of militancy for at least 13 years but now the educational institutions and set-ups are being restored by the government. -Agencies
