BEIJING: China has urged the European Union to immediately stop its unreasonable actions against Chinese companies operating within the bloc and to use the Foreign Subsidies Regulation investigation tool prudently, the Ministry of Commerce said.
Speaking at a news conference in Beijing, He Yadong, spokesman for the ministry, said China has noted that the European Commission, the EU’s executive body, has recently launched a series of FSR investigations targeting Chinese businesses.
These measures include in-depth investigations into CRRC Corp and Nuctech, alongside on-site inspections of Chinese digital platforms. Such actions demonstrate selective targeting and discriminatory practices, He said.
China strongly opposes these moves. The country will closely monitor the EU’s actions and will take necessary measures to firmly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies, he added.
Earlier, China has consistently opposed unilateral sanctions that violate international law and are not authorized by the UN Security Council, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Wednesday, when asked whether an EU decision to use frozen Russian assets to aid Ukraine would undermine China’s confidence in the EU’s business environment, as the European Commission hopes to make a decision at an upcoming summit.
“All parties should create a positive atmosphere and favorable conditions for promoting peace talks and a political solution to the Ukraine crisis, rather than the opposite,” Guo said. –The Daily Mail-China Daily news exchange item
