RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa said that “Kashmir remains a core unresolved agenda” of the partition of Subcontinent, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
According to the ISPR, the COAS visited the troops deployed at the Line of Control, where he said that Pakistan Army is completely ready and resolute in defending the motherland against any misadventure.
Gen Bajwa said that the army is fully invested in the peace and stability of the region. “Kashmir remains a core unresolved agenda and we standby the Kashmiris in their historical stance,” he said.
The statement by the army chief comes at a time of heightened tension in Indian-occupied Kashmir, where the Indian forces have martyred over a dozen Kashmiri youths, including PhD scholars, this month.
Indian soldiers martyred these youths during the so-called cordon and search operations. Yesterday, Indian forces martyred three Kashmiri youngsters, including PhD scholar Sabzar Ahmed Sufi.
The occupying forces martyred another six youths in Baramula and Anantnag today, and detained nine others.
The aggression by Indian forces has not been limited to the so-called operations and killings, rather they have also resorted to using chemical weapons on innocent citizens of the valley.
Earlier this month, the Foreign Office strongly condemned India’s use of chemical weapons on unarmed citizens in occupied Kashmir.
“Pakistan strongly condemns Indian aggression,” Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal said.
“We want to resolve the Kashmir issue as per the wishes of the Kashmiri people.”
