RAWALPINDI: Chairman Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Tariq Mehmood Murtaza in line with the Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision of “Clean and Green Pakistan” on Thursday chaired a committee’s meeting about risks within Nullah Lai Rawalpindi.
During the meeting, the Chairman RDA discussed various issues of Nullah Lai such as Rain Water Harvesting, Trash Segregation, safe and secure flow in Lai downstream, Installation of Sewerage Water Treatment Plants in Rawalpindi – Islamabad around Nullah Lai, Plantation of Bamboos along the Banks of Lai for Recycling, Provision of Flood Retardation Basin in Islamabad in collaboration with the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Federal Flood Commission (FFC) and maintenance/placement of flood forecasting and flood warning systems.
Tariq Mehmood said flood retardation basin will be effectively catered to super floods and to prevent flood peaks at its initial stages. He said clean and green Nullah Lai would create good and healthy atmosphere in the respective areas and would result in improving hygienic condition as well.
