ISLAMABAD:- The installation of the 132kV grid station to provide 22MW electricity to New Gwadar International Airport is a significant step towards supporting the development of the Gwadar Port.
Amir Ali Bugti, executive engineer of the Operation Division, Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO), expressed these views while talking to WealthPK.
“With the installation nearing completion, the new grid station is poised to meet the energy needs of the airport, enhancing its operational efficiency and contributing to the overall economic development of Gwadar,” he said.
Bugti said it is a transformative journey for Gwadar towards becoming an economic powerhouse.
“The initiative is aimed to ensure a reliable power supply for this ambitious venture,” he added.
Bugti said this infrastructure milestone symbolises a crucial step towards powering the growth and prosperity of Gwadar.
He said Gwadar, a strategic port city, has witnessed rapid industrial and commercial growth in recent years. As trade routes converge in Gwadar, the need for a reliable and uninterrupted power supply becomes evident.
“Recognising this demand, the authorities have been working diligently to establish a robust energy infrastructure that can meet the power needs of the New Gwadar International Airport and its surrounding areas,” said the official.
The construction of the 132kV grid station in close proximity to the new airport is a significant development. It will help provide a crucial connection for a stable electricity supply. By generating 22MW electricity, the grid station will ensure that the airport and the businesses operating in its vicinity have access to sufficient power for their operations.
The completion of the grid station means that the New Gwadar International Airport will have a reliable power supply, enabling uninterrupted functioning of all airport-related operations. From runway lighting to baggage handling systems, a stable supply of electricity is vital for seamless air travel and the airport’s growth.
Experts believe that availability of a robust power supply infrastructure in Gwadar region will attract investment from various sectors. It will also stimulate economic and industrial growth by enabling businesses to operate efficiently, thereby contributing to job creation, increased trade, and overall development. –INP
