ISLAMABAD: Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Islamabad Capt (retd) Syed Zeeshan Haider held an important meeting regarding traffic management during the holy month of Ramadan.
The meeting was attended by the SP Traffic, Zonal DSPs and Beat Officers. Zonal DSPs provided briefings on the flow of traffic and congestion at commercial centers and markets.
On the occasion, Chief Traffic Officer Islamabad issued instructions emphasizing that in view of Ramadan additional traffic police personnel should be deployed at masjids, markets and commercial centers.
All supervisory officers are directed to brief the officers deployed at masjids and markets on a daily basis. He mentioned that during the last ten days of Ramadan there will be heavy traffic congestion at commercial centers which should be managed effectively with a well-coordinated strategy.
He further added that during peak hours of congestion in markets a well-organized traffic system should be maintained. Strict actions will be taken against violators of traffic laws without discrimination.
A crackdown will be conducted against individuals involved in activities such as one-wheeling and drifting. The Chief Traffic Officer also directed that actions against vehicles disrupting the flow of traffic should be intensified.
Furthermore, he emphasized the need to raise public awareness urging citizens to adhere to traffic rules, avoid unnecessary congestion and illegal parking and cooperate with the traffic police in order to maintain a well-regulated traffic system in Islamabad.
