Cops bust inter-provincial gang of car lifters

ISLAMABAD: Capital Cops’ PS Tarnol, while operating against anti-social elements, busted a gang of car lifters, while recovering a stolen vehicle from their possession.
According to details, following the directives of IGP Islamabad; Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar Khan, DIG Operations Waqar-ud-din Syed assigned the task of accelerating efforts against car lifters to SP Saddar Muhammad Umar Khan. Thus, a special team was constituted under the supervision of DSP Khalid Mehmood Awan, comprising of SHO Tarnol Inspector Arshad Ali, ASI Muhammad Ishaq and personnel. Thus the team, through concerted efforts, achieved success and apprehended two wanted members of an inter-provincial gang of car lifters. The accused were later identified as Sajjad alias Zubair s/o Farooq Shah, resident of Mardan and Hazir Ali s/o Numair Khan, belonging to district Swabi. A vehicle was also recovered while efforts are underway to arrest their accomplices.
Moreover, during preliminary investigation, the accused have confessed of lifting various vehicles from Islamabad and Punjab and later selling them at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It is also pertinent to mention here that the arrested culprits were wanted in 26 cases registered at various police stations of Islamabad, Haripur, Abottabad, Mardan, Sawat and Nowshera. IGP Islamabad and DIG Operations have appreciated the performance of PS Tarnol while directing the officials to further intensify efforts in curbing car lifting instances. They have also announced cash prizes and commendation certiificates for the entire team on successful apprehension of the given gang.
