ISLAMABAD: Following the special directions of IGP Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, the Islamabad Police expedited an indiscriminate crackdown against kite sellers in the federal capital.
In this regard, the Industrial Area police team arrested a kite seller and seized over 13,000 kites and string rolls from his possession. The accused was identified as Maaz Ahmed. Police team also registered a case against him and further investigation is underway.
SSP Operations Islamabad, Muhammad Shoaib Khan, stated that parents must educate their children about the dangers of kite flying and the legal consequences associated with it. He urged citizens to fulfill their social and legal responsibilities by playing an active role in preventing kite flying.
He further added that, announcements regarding the hazards of kite selling and measures for its prevention have been made in masjids across all police stations jurisdiction throughout the district. Kite flying is a dangerous activity that can result in lifelong disability or even death, he emphasized.
The crackdown against kite flying and selling will continue with full force, he added, stressing that kite flying is a crime that will be dealt with strictly. Islamabad Police is taking continuous legal action against this deadly activity.
Moreover, kite strings pose a serious threat to human lives and the loss of innocent lives due to this hazardous sport will not be tolerated.
He reaffirmed that protecting the lives and property of citizens remains the foremost priority of the Islamabad Police and every possible step will be taken in this regard.
