ISLAMABAD: Federal Secretary of Health Iftikhar Ali Shalwani has said that the government of Pakistan was striving to achieve targets to ensure Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
The secretary said this while attending a high-level meeting regarding Universal Health Coverage at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
Secretary of Health said that the country’s health system faced challenges due to Coronavirus. He said that millions of people were deprived of health services as a result of Covid-19.
Iftikhar Ali Shalwani said, “The universal health coverage is included in national health sector priorities.” He said, “Universal health coverage is included in the important goals of Pakistan’s National Health Plan 2016-2025.” The Secretary of Health highlighted the steps taken regarding universal health coverage in Pakistan.
Iftikhar Shalwani said, “The government has planned to create the national health support package 2022–2026.” He welcomed the announcement regarding universal health coverage. “I hope this will help in achieving universal health coverage at the international level, national level, and regional level,” he concluded.
