ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman’s Azadi March has been challenged in the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
The petition has been filed by a citizen requesting the high court to stop Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman from staging a sit-in in the federal capital.
The plaintiff has made Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman, interior secretary, education secretary, Islamabad deputy commissioner and Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) chairman as respondents.
Let it be known that the IHC and the Supreme Court had earlier directed to stage the sit-in the specified areas.
Mainwhile, Minister for Information, Punjab, Mian Aslam in a press conference today said that the Prime Minister of Maulana’s protest agenda seems nefarious.
Aslam said that the religious cleric was trying to rile up young minds and lead them towards chaos and anarchy in the name of justice and rights.
“Innocent children are being told to carry along sticks and canes to the protest (Azadi) march,” said Aslam.
Aslam expanding upon the intentions of Maulana Fazl Ur Rehman said that the march would bring harm to all the hard work done by the Prime Minister in his recently concluded US visit.
“Prime Minister Imran Khan represented the Ummah and the plight of innocent Kashmiri’s on a global scale, Maulana with his self-serving attitude wants to harm the diplomatic case that Pakistan is trying to build against Indian atrocities, he is also bringing harm to the image of Pakistan as a country by taking aggressive measures against the state which may lead to unfortunate events.”
The minister said that no one would oppose a peaceful march and protest, but if things got out of control then anything could happen, he yet again expressed serious doubts over the intentions behind the march and the intentions harbored by its patriarch, Maulana Fazl Ur Rehman.

Jamiat Ulma-e- Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman should tell what he has done for strengthening Islam, he said and added, “Why you want to de-track Pakistan.”
He said the JUI-F had criticized Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) sit of 2014 by terming it as an undemocratic move, but now he wants to do the same against the incumbent government.
The minister said the accountability process is underway without any discrimination, those looted the national kitty are being made accountable. Some of them are in jail, he continued.
Yousafzai said Maulana was criticizing the Pakistan People’s Party and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leadership in the past, but now asking for their support for his personal interest.
Jamiat Ulema-e Islam (F) chief Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman has announced to hold ‘Azadi March’ in Islamabad from October 27.
Our Monitoring Desk Adds: Leader of the House in Senate Shibli Faraz has said that Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman is misusing religion to his advantage, Dunya News reported on Monday.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader talked to media and maintained that Fazal-ur-Rehman collected funds in the name of Namoos-e-Risalat (sanctity of Holy Prophet).
