CPC’s proposals for 14th Five-year Plan released

BEIJING: The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China’s (CPC) proposals for the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) for National Economic and Social Development and the Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035 are now available at Xinhua Bookstore outlets across the country.
China’s Five-Year Plan (FYP) system is formulated to make plans for economic and social development over the coming five years. The first FYP started in 1953. A total of 13 FYPs have been made and implemented except for a period of economic adjustment between 1963 and 1965. The year 2020 is the last year of the 13th FYP (2016-2020). Meanwhile President Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, explained the drafting process of the Committee’s proposals for formulating the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) for National Economic and Social Development and the Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035 at a recent CPC session. Xi delivered the explanatory speech on the proposals to the 15th plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee convened from October 26 to 29 in Beijing. The speech was made public on Tuesday.
