ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Shibli Faraz Friday said Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) has been directed to set up a complete database of engineers.
The minister was speaking during a meeting with a delegation of Federal Association of Government Engineers who called on the minister.
The data bank will make it easier for the ministry to make future policies and find sustainable solutions to the problems being faced by the engineers, Shibli Faraz said.
The assured the delegation to play his role in resolving the problems of the engineers.Shibli Faraz said that the PEC has also been directed to work on welfare schemes for engineers.
Earlier on Thursday Mr. Faraz visited the National Institute of Electronics (NIE) in Islamabad where he was briefed in detail regarding the working and initiatives of the institute.
Shibli Faraz also reviewed the different products being developed by the institute and took a keen interest in numerous initiatives like smart electric metres, smart parking systems and FMCW (Frequency Modulation Continuous Wave) radars.
In his remarks on the occasion, the minister said that there are certain gaps in the functionality of NIE, like patent registration, lack of product development, and absence of commercial linkages with the industry due to which this institute has not achieved its true potential.
