FAISALABAD: A dedicated facilitation desk has been established in the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) office exclusively for the members of the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI).
President FCCI Engineer Hafiz Ihtasham Javed and Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ali formally inaugurated this desk in a colourful function held here yesterday. District Manager PIA Mohammad Shahid Hussain and other officials of the PIA were also present.
Addressing the function Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ali said that corona has badly affected the air industry like other sectors of the economy. Now the situation is gradually improving and the national flag carrier has come up with an innovative marketing plan to enhance its business in addition to facilitating the frequent air travellers belonging to the FCCI. He said that at this crucial time Pakistan needs to enhance its exports and handsome concessions have been offered to the FCCI members in order to encourage them to revive their contacts with the international buyers and play a pivotal role to give a quantum jump to the national exports.
President FCCI Engineer Hafiz Ihtasham Javed said that just a few weeks ago FCCI and PIA had inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cooperate with each other for the benefit of two organizations. Under this MoU PIA will give special concessions to the FCCI members and their families in air fare while FCCI will motivate its 7000 members to prefer PIA while finalizing their foreign trips. He said that this facilitation desk at the PIA office is a step towards this direction.
District Manager PIA Mohammad Shahid Hussain said that chairman Arshad Malik is very keen to give maximum facilities to the business community. He said that under the MoU a coordination committee would also be established to project the soft image of Pakistan at the global level.
