SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: A day-long curfew has been imposed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s South Waziristan district due to heightened security concerns, local authorities confirmed.
According to a notification issued by the district administration, the curfew will remain in effect on Sunday from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Deputy Commissioner stated that the road from Makeen to Razmak will remain completely closed during the curfew hours. Residents have been advised to avoid traveling on this route until after 6 PM.
District authorities have urged citizens to use alternate routes for travel and refrain from unnecessary movement for their own safety.
Earlier, A Jirga of tribal elders was held in Wana, South Waziristan to mark the success of Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos. The tribal elders offered Fateha for the martyrs and paid homage to their sacrifices. The Jirga appreciated the operation and expressed full confidence in the unity of the tribal people and the security forces.
The jirga emphasized peaceful resolution of the land disputes in Gurgura and Ghundak and appealed to the elders to play their role.
The participants had a detailed discussion on peace, development and recognition of military sacrifices. They pledged to continue full cooperation with the security forces to establish peace.
