Cybercrime Unit upgradation initiated

ISLAMABAD: Following the special directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, the upgradation process of the Islamabad Police Cyber Crime Unit has been initiated.
IGP Islamabad had issued orders at the Conference for Operational Commanders for the transparent and merit-based handling and prosecution of cybercrime cases.
In this regard, instructions were also given to transfer the Cyber Crime Unit to Safe City for enhanced technical facilities. To further improve capacity, senior police officers have been appointed to the Cyber Crime Unit.
The implementation of KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) has been introduced to make the monitoring mechanism more effective. Experts in inquiry, investigation, and support staff have been appointed in specialized areas.
Senior police officers, instead of juniors, will now handle the investigation of cybercrime cases. Furthermore, a special counter has been established in Safe City Islamabad for the convenience of citizens.
IGP Islamabad said that, Islamabad Police is committed to eliminating cybercrime in the federal capital and is focused on the policy of achieving the best possible standards across all sectors.
He further added that, Islamabad Police is utilizing all available resources to ensure the safety of citizens’ lives and property and is aligning its officers with the latest demands of the present era.
