Dacoit injured in cross-fire

ISLAMABAD: A police patrolling party came under heavy gun fire by armed dacoits at Bakhral Chowk, in the limits of PS Koral. However, police officials remained unhurt and a dacoit was shot and injured in a retaliation by police. The injured dacoit identified as Salim Masih alias herry was arrested on the spot while the other accomplices of him managed to escape. A police party was busy in routine checking at Bakhral Chowk when the police officials signaled two suspecious motorcycles plying without registeration numbers for checking. The motorcycles’ riders opened indiscriminate firing on cops. Since the cops were adopting fully protective measures, no one was injured. Police reteliated and shot and injured a suspected dacoit namely Salim Masih. The other dacoits fled from the scene. The injured dacoit was moved to hospital for medical treatment amid tight secuity.
Soon after occurrence of incident, a heavy contingent of police rushed to the scene and cordoned off the area. Salim Masih is an active member of a notorious dacoit gang that is operating in area of PS Lohibher. He was sent to jail by police through courts for his involvement in three cases of dacoity and possessing illegal arms. A case has been registered against Salim Masih and other gang members with PS Koral while further investigation was on. Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muhammad Ahsan Younas appreciated the bravery and sharp respond of police team that resulted into hunting a dacoit in injured condition.
Islamabad Police is fully prepared to protect the lives and property of citizens. The cops of capital police will render any kind of sacrifice for the safety and security of people and police are carrying raids to arrest the fleeing dacoits.
