ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Sunday separately met Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov and Foreign Minister of Indonesia Sugiono on the margins of the Extra Ordinary meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of OIC held in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Recalling the recent visit of President of Azerbaijan to Pakistan, both sides agreed to continue the up-ward trajectory of the bilateral relations and strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest, For-eign Office Spokesperson said in a press release.
In the meeting with Foreign Minister of Indonesia Sugiono, both sides reaffirmed the historic familial bonds between the two nations and agreed to deepen cooperation in various spheres.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar held a meeting with Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates, Badr Abdelatty on the sidelines of extraordi-nary meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Sat-urday in Jeddah.
Both foreign ministers expressed their appreciation for the strong cooperation between Pakistan and Egypt at both bilateral and multilateral levels. They praised the enduring and multifaceted relationship between the two nations, which is founded on shared beliefs, values, and cultural connections. They agreed to further strengthen their political, defense, cultural, and economic ties,
as well as enhance people-to-people interactions.
The two foreign ministers also shared perspectives on regional and global issues of common concern. They voiced their deep alarm regarding the ongoing Israeli violence in the West Bank and the genocide being perpetrated in Gaza.
Dar acknowledged Egypt’s crucial role in providing humanitarian aid to the Palestinians in Gaza and its efforts to mediate a temporary ceasefire in the occupied territory. The two Foreign Ministers reaf-firmed their opposition to the forced displacement of Palestinians from their homeland. They con-curred that a lasting resolution to the crisis lies in the creation of a viable and contiguous Palestinian State based on the borders prior to June 1967, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
The DPM also invited Dr. Badr Abdelatty to visit Pakistan on mutually convenient dates.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar and his United Arab Emirates (UAE) counterpart, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Friday explored avenues to enhance bilat-eral cooperation in key sectors, including trade, investment, energy, defense, and people-to-people connections. In a bilateral meeting in Abu Dhabi, on the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Minis-ter for Foreign Affairs of the UAE, both sides also exchanged views on regional and global develop-ments of mutual interest, underscoring the importance of promoting peace, stability, and shared prosperity, according to a foreign ministry’s press release issued here.
The two leaders engaged in comprehensive discussions aimed at further strengthening longstanding fraternal ties between Pakistan and the UAE.
