FAISALABAD: As many as 156 open mainholes have been covered during last week by means of WASA, Sui Gas and PTCL in the district and 11 City Councils have also been made zero open mainholes.
The Deputy Commissioner Ali Shahzad chaired a high level meeting under Key Performance Indicators KPIs of public welfare initiatives. It was also informed in the meeting that while road crossing of school childrens ensuring their safety ways, there speed breakers have also been made specially infront of schools situated on the brink of main roads.
It was further informed that 886 street lights were made functional during the last week by Metropolitan Corporation and Municipal Committees.
Four old bridges were surveyed and one of it has been repaired. 38 choked drains and 83 sewer lines were cleared after cleanliness on public complaints. Faisalabad Waste Management Company lifted 8838 Tons waste from street, roads and shifted to dumping site in a safe manner and 14 City Councils were made Zero Waste. It was informed that buildings of 9 Public Transports were white washed, benches of seating areas were made clean and continue cleanliness process was underway on regular base. The play grounds and green belts were maintained and 21 illegal billboards were removed and 208 installed billboards were made safety, wall chacking at 13 points were cleaned, 67 water storage tanks made clean, the complete cleanliness of 168 BHUs, 15 RHCs and 7 Hospitals were completed, besides awareness campaign at Mosques and Public & Private Schools were delivered. The DRTA impounded 51 vehicles for emitting smoke and 55 thousand fine imposed besides 60 overloaded vehicles were fined over one million. Six Urban and 7 Rural small roads were patched and 17 Poles were shifted and 3 transformers were covered. The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the performance of departments with 18 indicators regarding public welfare initiatives and directed that uncovered drains should also covered besides mainholes. He asked the PTCL and Suigas officials to improve the performance. He directed the MCF and MCs to function at least 50 % street lights before a week. He cleared that only paper work would not be tolerated in public welfare initiative and head of departments should submitted their weekly written report dually signed.
He further informed that to check the progress of departments the Third Party Validation( TPV) is decided so that real figures should be shared at this level. During the meeting the cleanliness week campaign matters were also discussed. The special campaign would be continue till 28 February. The ADCs, Assistant Commissioners and other officers were present in the meeting.
