ISLAMABAD: Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Headquarters Muhammad Haroon Joiya chaired a meeting to review the performance of various police departments, the facilities being provided to citizens, security arrangements, and traffic management.
The meeting was attended by DIG Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq, DIG Law & Order/Training Muhammad Atiq Tahir, AIG Operations & Investigations, SSP Security, Chief Traffic Officer Islamabad, and Director Special Initiatives. Senior police officers briefed the DIG Headquarters on various matters.
On this occasion, DIG Headquarters directed all officers to further improve administrative affairs in order to enhance the standard of policing. He instructed that officers in each division should give priority to addressing the concerns of staff and employees and ensure their timely resolution. He emphasized that all possible facilities must be provided to citizens, as public service is the foremost duty of the police.
The DIG Headquarters also reviewed the overall security arrangements of the federal capital. He directed the SSP Security to ensure strict security at important government and private buildings, embassies, and other sensitive locations within the Red Zone.
He further instructed the CTO Islamabad to adopt a comprehensive strategy to maintain smooth traffic flow in the city and to take strict legal action against traffic violations, so that citizens may be provided with better travel facilities. The DIG Headquarters also reviewed the ongoing training and promotional courses at the Capital Police College (CPC) Islamabad.
He directed senior police officers to provide modern education and training to officers and personnel under training.
Special emphasis should be placed on practical work, and police officers and personnel must be trained to adopt courteous and professional behavior with the public, so that the relationship of trust between citizens and the police may be further strengthened.
At the conclusion of the meeting, DIG Headquarters underscored that the goal of Islamabad Police is to provide a safe, organized, and people-friendly environment. For this purpose, all officers must perform their duties diligently so that Islamabad can be made an exemplary city.
