DIG Islamabad reviews Muharram routes, orders strict security

ISLAMABAD: Following the special instructions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, the DIG Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq visited the proposed routes of Muharram processions in the federal capital. He was accompanied by zonal SPs, SHOs, and other senior police officers.
On this occasion, DIG Islamabad conducted a detailed review of the security arrangements and instructed all officers deployed on security duty to remain on high alert. He stressed that procession routes must be fully cordoned off and adequate lighting must be ensured.
He stated that foolproof security arrangements are being made for Muharram processions and majalis, and that strict implementation of the prescribed SOPs will be ensured.
He further added that, Islamabad Police is fully committed to providing comprehensive security during Muharram-ul-Haram. All necessary measures are being taken to promote inter-sect harmony and tolerance.
In line with the vision of IG Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, efforts will be made to ensure religious harmony and maintain peace and order throughout Muharram in the federal capital.
