DPM Dar chairs PM’s Committee meeting to review, analyze Tax Policy Proposals for forthcoming budget

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister / Foreign Minister (DPM/FM), Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Wednesday chaired a meeting of the Committee constituted by the prime minister to review and analyze  the Tax Policy Proposals prepared by Tax Policy Office for the forthcoming budget and make recommendations thereof.
The Committee examined the tax proposals aimed at bringing informal sector into the tax net and plugging the existing gaps in the tax system, a DPM’s Office news release said.
The Committee guided the Tax Policy Office on the proposals so made by assessing their impact on revenue generation, growth and investment.
The directions by the Committee to the Tax Policy Office was to focus on measures which would not only lead to revenue growth but also stimulates growth and investment without placing additional burden on the compliant tax payers.
The meeting was attended by Minister Planning, Minister EAD, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, MoS on Finance and Railways, Secretary Finance, Chairman FBR, and senior officials from concerned ministries.
