Islamabad: The Academic Staff Association (ASA) of COMSATS University Islamabad, Islamabad Campus, warmly congratulates Prof. Dr. Raheel Qamar on his appointment as the Rector of COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI).
Prof. Dr. Raheel Qamar is a renowned scientist and academician who has rendered exceptional services to CUI in various key capacities, including Professor, Dean of Sciences, Dean of ORIC, Incharge Islamabad Campus, and Acting Rector. Over the past five years, he has been associated with ICESCO, where he contributed to advancing science, technology, and innovation initiatives at an international level. Dr. Qamar’s name was ranked at the top priority by the Senate of CUI during its 8th (Special) Meeting held on August 20, 2025, in recognition of his distinguished career and long-standing commitment to academic excellence and institutional development.
ASA-CUI Islamabad Campus expresses its strong hope that this appointment will mark the end of the prolonged ad-hoc setup, ensuring that rule of law, transparency, and meritocracy prevail within the institution. The association is confident that under the visionary leadership of Prof. Dr. Raheel Qamar, COMSATS University Islamabad will flourish further, and the professional growth and welfare of faculty members will be given due attention.
The association also recognizes that CUI faces multiple institutional challenges at present, and believes that by re-establishing good governance and adherence to merit, the university will continue its journey toward excellence in education, research, and innovation.
