Efforts afoot to make Islamabad safest city: DIG

ISLAMABAD: DIG Islamabad, Muhammad Jawad Tariq, chaired a meeting to assess the crime situation. The meeting was attended by SSP Investigation Muhammad Arsalan Shahzaib, SP City Zone, SDPOs, SHOs of Kohsar and Margalla police stations, and investigation officers.
During the meeting, the DIG issued directives emphasizing that any rise in crime would not be tolerated. He instructed officers to take strict legal action against criminals involved in serious offenses to ensure their prosecution. He stressed the importance of promptly arresting absconding suspects and conducting fair, merit-based investigations. He directed that strong evidence be gathered to ensure convicted criminals receive appropriate punishment.
Furthermore, he ordered intensified patrolling for effective crime prevention. He instructed officers to take indiscriminate action against those involved in illegal activities, such as the illegal display of arms, land grabbing, drug trafficking, and kite flying. He emphasized the need to arrest proclaimed offenders involved in serious crimes and dismantle organized criminal groups by also apprehending their accomplices and facilitators.
He further directed officers to ensure the arrest and recovery of stolen motorcycles and vehicles, utilizing all available resources to curb criminal activities. He stressed that pending investigations must be completed swiftly and submitted to the relevant courts without delay. He urged officers to enhance the quality of investigations, ensure effective resolution of public complaints, and address citizens’ concerns on a priority basis.
Additionally, he made it clear that corruption, misconduct, and abuse of authority would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He instructed all officers to maintain exemplary discipline, ensuring the safety, dignity, and security of citizens.
