Chengdu: Chengdu in Southwest China’s Sichuan Province experienced a hailstorm on Tuesday afternoon during summer season. Videos posted by local media Sichuan Guancha showed egg-sized hailstones accompanied by a storm.
A video posted on social media by a user named “Zaigeiwochiyikou” showed the hail making a loud noise as it struck a city bus.
According to the latest meteorological update, a rainstorm alert was lifted at 7 pm by the meteorological center of Chengdu, three hours after it was issued, as announced on its official Weibo account.
The earlier warning had predicted that parts of the city could see over 50 millimeters of rainfall within six hours, accompanied by hail, lightning, and strong winds—signs of severe convective weather. -Global Times
