SUKKUR/KASHMORE: Sindh’s Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Sunday said that the NDMA has reported that eight to 11 lac cusecs of floodwater could enter in Sindh.
“It will be a super flood if the water flow soars above nine lac cusecs at Guddu and Sukkur barrages,” talking to media after a briefing over the river situation, Murad Ali Shah here said.
Addressing press conference CM Shah said that the irrigation department has been directed to be prepared for the super flood.
“The water flow as big as coming, will submerge the katcha area,” chief minister said. “We will try to avoid losses of human and animal lives,” he said. “We have 192 boats for evacuation. People are requested to cooperate with administration,” he said.
Earlier, in a briefing, Sindh’s chief minister was informed that machinery and manpower have been deployed at protective embankments.
Chief minister was informed that six points have been extremely sensitive on the right bank of the river between Guddu and Sukkur including Left Marginal Bund, KK Bund, KK Feeder Bund, New Ghorghat ex-Bund, Old Tori Bund and SB Bund.
“In the left of the Indus, Qadirpur Shank Bund, Qadir Loop Bund, Rownti Bund, Baiji Bund and RN Bund have been extremely sensitive”, Sindh CM told.
He said six points have been critical between Guddu and Sukkur where breaches happened in the past. “KK Bund portion has been dangerous on the right bank. In case of eight to nine lac cusecs water Shank Bund could not be saved. It will be our priority to save the Shank Bund,” he said.
Murad Ali Shah directed boosting protection of banks and thorough monitoring of critical points of sensitive embankments.
He urged for prompt action in case of any emergency situation. –Agencies
