Elaborate security measures chalked out for Christmas

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police have planned comprehensive security arrangements for the eve of Christmas, including special deployments at churches and public places.
Following the directions of DIG Islamabad Syed Ali Raza, the Islamabad police have been put on high alert to avoid any untoward situations.
A total of 1,500 officers of Islamabad police have been deployed to ensure a foolproof security arrangement for the Christmas celebrations.
SSP Operations/Investigation Muhammad Arslan Shahzaib said that foolproof security arrangements have been decided for this occasion. He mentioned that the green belts near the churches would be thoroughly searched, while mobile units, Dolphin squads, and police commandos would ensure patrolling in these areas.
Additionally, police officers will be deployed at churches, markets, and recreational places. Special pickets have been set up on major highways and boulevards in the capital.
He further said that, security duties at public places including parks, would be made more effective. Security would be tightened at the entry and exit points of the capital, and special checks have been ordered for this special occasion.
Moreover, it was also decided that different police teams will closely monitor suspects, and additional forces will be deployed at public places. All police stations have been directed to prepare duty rosters in this regard and assign teams to patrol various sectors and rural areas of Islamabad for effective patrolling.
SSP Operations/Investigations directed all Zonal SPs, SDPOs, and SHOs to ensure effective patrolling in their respective areas. Special branch officials, well-equipped policemen, and female police officers will also perform duties near churches and public places.
He further emphasized that the foremost duty of the police is to ensure the safety of citizens’ lives and property. All resources should be used in this regard, and no laxity will be tolerated, he added.
