LAHORE: The anti-corruption court in Lahore fixed Feb 14 to indict PTI imprisoned leader Parvez Elahi and other accused in alleged corruption cases.
Judge Zubair Shahzad Kayani heard the reference of alleged corruption in development projects.
Parvez Elahi and the other accused were presented before the court. Copies of the reference were also given to the accused.
It should be recalled that after completing the investigation into corruption in development projects and kickbacks in construction contracts in Gujrat against former Punjab chief minister Parvez Elahi and Moonis Elahi and others.
On Dec 2, the NAB submitted a reference of more than Rs one billion to the Accountability Court, Lahore.
Earlier, PTI leader and former minister Hammad Azhar has stepped back from electoral race by withdrawing his appeal against rejection of nomination papers. Supreme Court’s Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and Justice Jamal Mandokhel heard the case of Hammad Azhar’s nomination papers rejection. The assistant lawyer told the court that Hammad Azhar didn’t want to follow the case. Justice Shah inquired why the high court had given reference of Article 62 (i)-F in its decision. “The court’s verdict has been clear that the Article 62 (i)-F is not applicable by itself,” Justice Shah remarked. –Agencies
