THARPARKAR: Engro Powergen Thar (EPTL) has achieved a significant safety milestone, surpassing 5 million safe man-hours. This accomplishment underscores the company’s unwavering commitment to safety, as announced by ETPL on Friday.
“This achievement underscores our unwavering dedication to fostering a safe and secure work environment with absence of any lost workday injuries,” reads an official statement.
“Safe man-hours” is a concept frequently employed in industrial and construction contexts to quantify work completed without any time lost due to accidents, injuries, or other safety-related incidents.
Engineer Aziz Ahmad, an electrical engineer specializing in electricity projects, explained that man-hours represent the total hours worked by employees or contractors without any recordable incidents. Mr. Aziz told Gwadar Pro that safe man-hours serve as a crucial metric for evaluating workplace safety performance, indicating the effectiveness of safety practices and the establishment of a safe working environment.
EPTL was formed in 2014 to set up a 2x330MW power project in Thar Block II, Sindh, Pakistan. The company is a joint venture between Engro Powergen Ltd (EPL), China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC), Habib Bank Ltd, and Liberty Mills Limited. The project successfully achieved commercial operations on July 10, 2019.
