ISLAMABAD: The anti-corruption cell of the Federal Investigation Agency has arrested Islamabad district court’s former accountant on charges of corruption. According to the FIA spokesperson, Riaz Ahmed was involved in corruption of over Rs1.5 billion during his tenure. “He had been using bail bonds for personal use.â€
The suspect was employed as the accountant of a district and sessions court in the capital city in 1996 and retired in 2018. The inquiry was initiated by the agency on orders of Chief Justice Athar Minallah. Ahmed has been taken into police custody and is being questioned, while further investigations are underway.
7 outlaws booked, arms recovered
ISLAMABAD: Capital Cops on Tuesday arrested seven outlaws have been arrested. Under directions of SSP Operations Dr Syed Mustafa Tanveer, the police launched a crackdown against criminals at different localities of the district. According to details, PS Sabzi Mandi busted two accused Zahir Ullah and Sayam and recovered two 30 bore pistol along with ammunition from their possession. Homicide Unit of Capital Cops arrested Waleed Arfaqat and recovered one 30 bore pistol from him. Banigala police arrested two accused Ehatsham and Akhtar Zada involved in illegally cylinder gas filling. Cases have been registered against the nabbed person and further investigation is underway from them. During a special crackdown police teams arrested two offenders from various areas of the city. DIG Operations Afzaal Ahmad Kausar and SSP Operations Dr Syed Mustafa Tanveer have appreciated Police performance. SSP Operations Islamabad appealed to parents not to allow children to buy or fly kites because it is dangerous. He also sought cooperation of citizens to make the lives of all secure and safe.
