Fawad Alam-led Sindh wins third consecutive match in 2nd XI tournament

Lahore: Sindh led by Fawad Alam has won the third consecutive match of the 2nd XI tournament as they beat Northern by 6 runs at Gaddafi Stadium.
Put in to bat first, Sindh posted 149-7 in 20 overs. Left-hand batter Rameez Aziz and wicket-keeper batsman Saifullah Bangash scored 32 each. Birthday boy Saad Ali made 17 while Hasan Mohsin scored 22. For Northern, Athar Mahmood picked three while Aamer Jamal claimed two.
Northern lost their opener Nihal Mansoor in the very first over. He was removed by Mohammad Umer. Taimoor Sultan and Umair Masood added 63 for the third wicket. Taimoor made 54 whereas Umair scored 29.
Mohammad Shahnawaz took 4-19 in his four overs that led Sindh to claim a 6-run win. Fawad and Hasan took a wicket each.
In the second match of the day, Central Punjab beat Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by eight runs. CP put in to bat first by KP posted a massive 174 for five in 20 overs.
Mohammad Akhlaq was the star with the bat, smashing 35-balls 52. His inning included two fours and three sixes. Captain Nauman Anwar made 31 while Mohammad Saad made 38. For KP, Sameen Gul and Mohammad Imran claimed two wickets each.
KP set to chase 175 batted sensibly but lost their opener Mohammad Arif (3) soon. Musadiq Ahmed (43) protected one end, adding a 48-run stand for the second wicket with Israrullah.
Zubair Khan Lodhi was the star with the bowl for CP, taking 5-30 in four overs. Waqas Maqsood claimed 2-38.
