ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has granted permission to Former Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry to travel abroad for two weeks, starting from August 10 to August 24.
Chief Justice Aamer Farooq presided over the hearing regarding Chaudhry’s request to leave the country. During the proceedings, the Deputy Attorney General requested additional time to submit a response.
Earlier, on July 5, the Islamabad High Court heard Fawad Chaudhry’s petition to have his name removed from the travel restriction list.
The court summoned a representative from the Ministry of Interior to appear in person on July 9 to address the matter and CJ criticised the government for placing names on travel ban lists indiscriminately.
Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and Fawad Chaudhry have gotten notice in contempt of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and chief election commissioner (CEC) cases.
The ECP member Nisar Durrani will hear the contempt cases against Imran Khan and Fawad Chaudhry on July 11.
It is pertinent to note that the case is pending for two years and Fawad Chaudhry could not appear before the court in the last hearing of the case.
It is noteworthy that Imran Khan and Fawad Chaudhry have been indicted in contempt of ECP, CEC cases. –Agencies
