ISLAMABAD: Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry has stated to raise the matter of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif’s repatriation in the next session of the National Assembly.
The minister also urged the Speaker of the House and the Punjab government to fulfill its constitutional responsibilities.
“Why isn’t Shehbaz Sharif returning to the country […] the person on whose guarantee Nawaz Sharif went abroad is himself residing in London.”
He revealed that he has already written a letter to the Speaker for carrying out proceedings for disqualification of Shehbaz Sharif.
“I would request the Speaker to take notice of the disappearance of the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly,” he said.
“The opposition leader isn’t returning so we must initiate proceedings to choose a new opposition leader.”
The minister also urged the provincial government to take legal action(s) against Shehbaz who had given his personal guarantee for Nawaz’s return.
“Measures are needed to be taken for the return of both of them.”
Pakistan Muslim League-Naawaz (PML-N) spokesperson Maryam Aurangzeb on Saturday said that her party will not compromise on the health of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
Talking to the journalists, Maryam Aurangzeb said that the court had allowed the ailing supremo of PML-N to travel abroad for treatment.
She maintained that it was clearly mentioned in the court’s verdict that Nawaz Sharif could stay abroad till complete medical treatment.
The spokesperson said that all the medical reports of the former prime minister had been submitted to the concerned authorities as per the law.
Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry on Sunday said that he will raise the issue of Opposition Leader Shehbaz Sharif’s long time absence from Parliament in tomorrow’s lower house session, media reported.
“I will raise the matter of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif’s repatriation in the next session of the National Assembly (NA),” said Fawad Chaudhry in a statement. He urged National Assembly speaker to take notice of PML-N Shehbaz Sharif’s absence from NA and called to initiate a process for appointing new Opposition Leader.
The role of the opposition leader in legislation is important and his absence is a violation of laws, he added.
The minister also urged the Punjab government to fulfil its constitutional responsibilities for Shehbaz return to Pakistan.
The minister said that he had already written a letter to the Speaker for carrying out proceedings for disqualification of Shehbaz Sharif.
