ISLAMABAD: The Federal Constitutional Court on Thursday adjourned the hearing of the super tax case until Friday. The three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan, resumed proceedings on the constitutional challenges related to the levy.
During the hearing, Barrister Farogh Naseem, representing various companies, argued that no authority is permitted to insert words into the Constitution or statutory law under any circumstance.
He contended that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) was applying its own rules and regulations in an arbitrary manner and was interpreting the law according to its convenience.
The court directed Barrister Naseem to continue his arguments and adjourned the proceedings until tomorrow, when he is expected to conclude his submissions. –Agencies
