RAWALPINDI: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) registered a First Information Report (FIR) on Monday, a day after a roadside bomb exploded near a police station in Rawalpindi, wounding at least 23 people.
A hand grenade was thrown near a water filtration plant across the road from the police station, but Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Ahsan Younas later confirmed the blast was from a device planted on the side of the road.
The case was registered under several provisions, including section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997, which deals with punishments for committing acts of terrorism.
More than 75 suspects have been rounded up in multiple raids since the blast, the police said.
