Xishuangbanna, Yunnan (CHINA): A 4-day mega moot from the platform of Yunnan International Communication Centre for South and Southeast Asia was held at the panoramic tourist resort of Xishuangbanna of the Yunnan province.
The event was though basically orchestrated and hosted by Yunnan International Communication Centre for South and Southeast Asia while leading Chinese organizations including The All-China Journalists Association and the Information Office of the People’s Government of Yunnan Province China Daily’s Asia-Pacific Branch, Xinhua News Agency and the Publicity Department of the CPC Xishuangbanna Prefectural Committee all put in their maximum efforts for the successful holding of the mega media even, involving media houses and media persons from almost entire South and Southeast Asia.
It is worth mentioning here that earlier, in January this year, the Yunnan International Communication Center for South and Southeast Asia, in collaboration with the Asia-Pacific Branch of China Daily, proposed the establishment of the South and Southeast Asian Media Network.
This initiative was aimed to establish the first media cooperation network initiated by local media, involving neighboring countries and relevant nations beyond the region and it was straightaway followed-up with the official inauguration of the Home of South and Southeast Asian Journalists. Currently, the Network includes more than 40 international media organizations, over 50 domestic local media outlets, and more than 10 strategic partners of central media.
During the event, to maximize the Network’s potential, the significant progress achieved by the South and Southeast Asian Media Network and the Home of South and Southeast Asia Journalists over the past year in areas such as communication, events, culture, and exchanges was reviewed and both the organizers and participants expressed their complete satisfaction of the year-long performance of the platform while suggestions and strategies for the Network’s activities in the coming year were also put forward. The moot was also a sideline event of the third Elephant International Communication.
The main event during the Conference was the formal launching of SSAMN and the Agreement of mutual cooperation for promoting the cause SSANM and Yunnal International Communication Centre amongst the leading media Houses of the entie region. However the Guests briefly share their experiences regarding media cooperation and offer suggestions for the improvement and development of the Home of South and Southeast Asian Journalists during one of the sessions of the moot. In another session, the Yunnan International Communication Center, Yunnan Airport Group (Siem Reap Angkor International Airport), Sichuan Sanxingdui Museum, and Yunnan Provincial Museum jointly launch the first exhibition of 2025 while the Network’s plan and vision for 2025 was also formally announced. In yet another session, 40 Leaders from the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, China Daily, the All-China Journalists Association, the Publicity Department of the CPC Yunnan Provincial Commitazatee, and the Yunnan International Communication Center present the “Excellence in Cooperation” award and badges to the outstanding partners while an official from the Publicity Department of the CPC Yunnan Provincial Committee presents a plaque to the Xishuangbanna Sub-center of the Yunnan International Communication Center for South and Southeast Asia.
On the sidelines of the events, the participants were taken to the countryside and were shown the green development by the Yunnan government, the social welfare projects that were part of President Xi Jinping’s vision of poverty alleviation where villagers were being provided with opportunity to improve their livelihood by creating small and medium gust house on sort of Air BNB pattern as the area attracts lot of tourists from all over China and neighboring countries especially during winters due to its tropical climate.
Guests were also shown the fruits and vegetables growth process in the area and were entertained to tropical fruits. In all. One can easily say that despite it being a professional media exercise, the event was transformed into a real hear winning opportunity by the deeply-though-out arrangements by the organizers and the warmth and hospitality of the people of Yunnan and especially of the host city of Xishuangbanna. Right from the arrivals at the Airpots to the reaching at the Hotel, every guest was made feel like being a “State Guest” was all were looked after the same way till they departed for their return journeys.
