BANNU: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed Sunday to have killed at least five terrorists during an encounter in the Bannu area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to a spokesperson of the CTD, the five terrorists were killed during an operation in the Bannu region. He said that they were involved in terrorist activities, target killings, explosions and attacks on security forces. Three Kalashnikovs/AK-47, 9mm pistols, improvised explosive devices (IED) and other arms and ammunition were seized from the possession of the terrorists, said the spokesperson. Meanwhile, CTD on Sunday claimed to have arrested five terrorists in 19 intelligence based operations across the province.
A spokesman for the CTD claimed that the terrorists hailed from an outlawed organization and were planning to carry out terror activities in the province.
“The authorities recovered detonators, explosive material, hand grenades, safety fuses, cash, IEDs and other material from their possession,” he said.
The spokesman said that the suspects have been shifted to undisclosed location for further interrogation. –Agencies
