ISLAMABAD: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Islamabad Police Muhammad Jawad Tariq chaired a high-level meeting to review crime control measures and finalize security arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram. The meeting was attended by SSP Investigation, SSP Operations, zonal SPs, SDPOs, and SHOs.
During the meeting, DIG Jawad Tariq said the Islamabad Police must intensify its crackdown against proclaimed offenders and members of active criminal gangs involved in serious crimes. Make arrests of hardened and repeat offenders a top priority, he directed.
He said that effective and purposeful patrolling must be ensured across the city. All officers must be visible in the field. Enhance the deployment and efficiency of patrolling units, including Dolphin, Ababeel, and Emergency Response Units, he added.
He instructed all field officers to take strict action against display of weapons, aerial firing, and drug peddling. He said that maximum resources should be utilized to curb crime and secure the lives and property of citizens. Coordination with Imambargah organizers must be strengthened ahead of Muharram,” he said.
He further directed that concrete measures be taken to ensure the safety of Muharram processions and religious gatherings, maintaining peace and harmony during the sacred month.
