ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) stopped foreign airline staff members from performing duty at the airline check-in counter at Islamabad International Airport (IIA) till completion of an inquiry into seizing of travel documents from a passenger on an Islamabad to Barcelona flight.
The CAA said: “It has been found that the staff at the check-in counter of a foreign airline handed over passport and ID card of the passenger to another passenger.†The CAA said the decision was taken after a preliminary check along with scrutiny of the CCTV footage of a video viral on social media wherein a passenger alleged that he was slapped by staff at the airport.
Immediately, the other passenger was located and documents retrieved. The CAA said there was an exchange of hot words between the passenger and the airline staff. However, contrary to the claims made by the passenger, no evidence was found that the passenger was slapped by the airline staff, the CAA said in a tweet posted on its official Twitter account.
