Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi stressed upon the important role of the Pakistani diaspora in promoting a positive image of the country abroad, media reported.
Addressing a large number of Pakistani community members in Tokyo, Qureshi said the new political set-up in Pakistan under the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government is people-centric and its socio-economic agenda aims at bringing job opportunities and economic benefits to the people.
The FM further said the government is trying to ensure all possible facilitation for the overseas Pakistanis and added that necessary instructions had been issued to Pakistani missions abroad to facilitate and assist the community and address their concerns in an effective manner.
Qureshi also reiterated the PTI government’s commitment to enhance productivity in the country and give new impetus to economic development.
The foreign minister was scheduled to visit Tokyo from February 24 to 27 but the visit had to be postponed due to an escalation in tensions with India following a terror attack in occupied Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Pakistan has a traditionally friendly relationship with Japan and the foreign minister’s visit to Japan is expected to further deepen the friendly relations between the two countries.
