ISLAMABAD: An attempted murder case has been registered against four cops of Eagle Squad on Wednesday allegedly involved in shooting and injuring a 10th grade student during an high alert following a robbery incident in Jhangi Syedan.
The case was registered with Police Station (PS) Noon under sections 324/34 of PPC on complaint of Kamran Khan, the father of maimed student identified as Huzaifa Rahan, informed a police spokesman. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muhammad Ahsan Younas states capital believed in self-accountability with ensuring foolproof security and safety for the noble and innocent citizens.
According to him, SSP Operations Faisal Kamran, following directions of IGP Muhammad Ahsan Younas, conducted an inquiry into firing incident by police that left a youth Huzaifa injured. He mentioned police force was out on high alert in Noon area following a call received in Safe City that three suspects dacoits fled on a motorcycle after snatching valuables from a citizen on gunpoint. In the meanwhile, Eagle Sqauds spotted a speeding motorcycle with three persons on board and signaled the riders to stop for checking. However, the three riders sped up motorcycle in street where they fell down after being slipped due to over speed. “A boy having yellow bag on shoulders fled after seeing the cops coming towards while the cops fired two bullets in the air and on earth to stop the fleeing boy,” he said adding that the cops managed to arrest two boys. “One of the two boys suffered bullet injury in thumb of the foot and was taken to hospital,” the spokesman said. Later on it was revealed during investigation that the three boys were returning home after attending tuition classes in an academy.
He said it was mentioned in the inquiry report that the four cops violated SOP and committed error of judgment on which a case has been registered against them. Police would also resolve the case on merit, he said. Meanwhile, IG Islamabad Muhammad Ahsan Younas said that police are taking action against criminals besides providing protection to noble and innocent citizens. “Islamabad police are committed to shield the citizens and a total of 55 police officers and Jawans have embraced martyrdom in the line of duty whereas more than 40 other suffered bullet injuries,” he said. He advised the citizens to not hesitate in lodging complaints with Complaint Cell 1715 round the clock in case of any emergency as the top priority of police is to provide security to the citizens.
